If using a stamped addressed envelope, please allow five working days for the prescription to be returned.
Prescriptions can also be requested online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration.
Please remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account when ordering.
The GP partners at Blackhall Medical Centre reserve the right to suggest that any prescription that is recommended by a private practitioner may have to be issued as a private prescription. The usual scenario for this is either that the particular medicine is not on the approved NHS Lothian Formulary or a medicine is being prescribed for a condition that it is not licensed for according to the British National Formulary.
Each prescription requested from a private practitioner will need to be discussed with all the GPs on a case by case basis and this decision may take up to 5 working days.
If a prescription is required urgently it will need to be sought from the private practitioner who recommended it.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Contraceptive Pill prescriptions
Patients on the contraceptive pill are required to attend annually to see a GP for review and blood pressure check. Contraceptive pills are NOT on repeat for this reason.
